Technical Theater Scripts

These are the approved plays for use in designing Technical Individual Event projects for District and State Junior Thespian Festivals each year in Florida—Costume Design, Makeup Design, Publicity Design, and Set Design.

Limiting the Technical Theater Script choices to six plays each year allows us to introduce students to a collection of superior plays, while allowing our judges some basis for comparison when adjudicating literally hundreds of technical theater projects.

At each year’s Florida State Junior Festival, each troupe will receive a free copy of the non-musical titles for the following school year. It will also help build a solid foundation for your classroom library!

Teachers are encouraged to use these plays for a variety of projects to help prepare students for success in their Technical Events—but also as a possible source for scenes and monologues! If you’ve got lesson plans you’ve created based upon any of these plays, and you’d be willing to share them with everyone, please send your ideas to the State Chair at JamesFSJT@gmail.com.

Listed below are the titles, authors, and publishers for each of the plays on our rotating schedule.
